Satellite Imagery
Planet has over 150 satellites in orbit collecting over 350 million square kilometers of imagery daily, with an unprecedented dataset of on average 1,300 images of every location on Earth’s landmass. Planet has three distinct constellations of satellites: Doves, SkySats, and RapidEye.
Planet SkySat
Planet SkySat
SkySat is a high-resolution constellation of 21 satellites that can revisit any location on Earth up to 10 times daily. SkySat covers a vast daily collection area of 400 thousand km²). SkySat offers unparalleled imaging quality, boasting images with an approximate image resolution of 50 centimeters per pixel.
The SkySat satellite constellation consists of multiple launches of SkySat-C generation satellites. Each satellite is 3-axis stabilized, ensuring steady and agile performance as they maneuver between different points of interest. Key to their imaging prowess, all SkySat satellites have Cassegrain telescopes featuring a focal length of 3.6 meters. These telescopes integrate with three 5.5-megapixel CMOS imaging detectors to create the focal plane.
SkySat offers a variety of item types, each serving specific imaging purposes. The options include the SkySat Scene Product, SkySat Collect Product, and SkySat Video. Asset Type availability may vary depending on the selected Item Type. For those who need video imagery, SkySat Video products are available for download as video assets, providing both Video Files and Video Frames. All imagery undergoes Sensor and Radiometric Calibration to ensure accuracy, while Orthorectification successfully eliminates terrain distortions. The result is visually stunning imagery, presented in natural color and optimized to replicate what the human eye can see. Whether for research, mapping, or various applications, SkySat's exceptional image quality and advanced features open up a world of possibilities for satellite imagery enthusiasts and professionals alike.
Planet Scope
PlanetScope is a constellation of approximately 130 satellites, able to image the entire land surface of the Earth every day (a daily collection capacity of 200 million km²/day). PlanetScope images are approximately 3 meters per pixel resolution.
The PlanetScope satellite constellation consists of multiple launches of Dove satellites. On-orbit capacity is improving continually in capability and quantity, with technology improvements and fast deployment. Each satellite is a CubeSat 3U form factor (10 cm by 10 cm by 30 cm).
The item type is PlanetScope Scene Product. Multiple asset types are available for Scene products, each with differences in radiometric processing either-or rectification. Sensor and radiometric calibration were applied. Orthorectification removes terrain distortions. Visual product processing presents the imagery as natural color, optimized as seen by the human eye. Surface Reflectance Product Processing removes atmospheric effects. PlanetScope is a powerful tool for monitoring and understanding the Earth's surface.

Planet
Rapideye
Planet RapidEye
RapidEye is a retired constellation of five satellites in function from 2009 to 2020. RapidEye images are approximately 5 meters per pixel resolution.
The RapidEye satellite constellation consisted of a single launch of five RapidEye satellites.
Item types are RapidEye Scene Product and RapidEye OrthoTile Product. Asset Type availability varies by Item Type. Sensor and Radiometric Calibration applied. Orthorectification removes terrain distortions. Visual product processing presents the imagery as natural color, optimized as seen by the human eye. Surface Reflectance Product Processing removes atmospheric effects.
